Do I have to worry about dark venues or bad lighting at my event?
Lighting can significantly impact the success of your corporate event. At times a venue will select to have very dim lighting in order to create an atmosphere or hide imperfections in the setup. There is a fine line between mood lighting and simply being so dark people cannot read the program in front of them.
Severely dark venues can make the space feel dull or uninviting. Proper architectural and centerpiece lighting in a dimly lit room can enhance the ambience of a night out. Remember your guests are often seated with strangers at a gala or conference, and if you can’t see the face of the person opposite you, it’s hard to make conversation.
Dark venues or poor lighting present challenges, but our skilled photographers can adapt and capture high-quality images. Low light conditions mean photographs and video will present with more noise. To combat this, our photographers use flash lighting to compensate. We use lighting carefully to balance the flash and the background, so you don’t get the usual washed-out “people in a dark cave” look. However, flash firing can still be distracting to the event proceedings.
The darker the venue, the more powerful flash needs to be used. Because the human eye reacts to light differently to a camera sensor, sometimes a venue does not feel any darker, but the camera needs to do a lot more work. Ask yourself – does having a venue that much darker really add to the guest experience?
Having extra lighting at the venue can significantly improve the number of high-quality photos captured. With better lighting, we can avoid relying heavily on flash, allowing us to take more candid, beautifully lit shots that truly capture the essence of your event.
Not to mention your guests are likely also taking selfies and photos on their phone too, so properly lit venues can help boost your social media presence in unexpected ways.
Planning for additional lighting ensures your event photos look their best, preserving the mood of the occasion while giving us the flexibility to capture those key moments flawlessly.
