Use Office Backgrounds For Headshots To Build Trust
Headshots on pure white are a common, flexible option for businesses, but sometimes you want something more customised. Using your office in the background is an easy alternative that gives context and builds trust.
The Problem With Pure White
Many business headshots have a pure white, or solid color background. They are great for matching brand colors, but have no context. Because it can be done by anyone anywhere, it also means your staff can be anywhere.
Simply put there is no proof that your staff exist in a Sydney office. They could be call centre staff or VAs for all your customers know.
Show Off Your Work Environment
Businesses thrive on trust. Here is an example of some corporate lawyers, where trust and professionalism is paramount.
The trend in Sydney headshot photography is to show a bit of your workplace. After all, you have spent a lot of effort designing a great work environment, so why not show it off?
While clients are looking at your corporate headshots, they get a feel of what your company is like. They can imagine you at work in the office, while they are browsing your website.
Compared to a white background, an office has a more natural, authentic feel, which lends itself to more approachable photographs. It also feels more friendly and informal, even when you wear a full suit and tie.
To take advantage of both styles, many companies use a white headshot in some situations, and the office headshots in others.
Small Details That Matter
It might sound like you can just put someone in the middle of your office and take a photo. But it’s not that simple. There are little details that enhance the look of your headshot and your office.
In this case we set up in a board room which had a bookshelf along one wall, and lined up the volumes of law books neatly so there were no gaps.
It’s not just a matter of placing someone in front of a bookshelf. If placed too close, the shadows of the person would fall on the bookshelf, which looks unattractive.
We wanted to stand a small distance away so that the books would naturally fall out of focus. However this meant the studio lights on the person wouldn’t light the background. This is what the camera would capture if the bookshelf was left as-is.
Simply put, it would look dull and uninviting. People would wonder why you work in the dark.
We used multiple lights on the background itself, so that it would reflect a bright, open environment that fit in with the brand of the business. This was all done and tested before the first staff ever stepped in. Once we were set up, each lawyer just needed to stand in the same spot, and we knew we would have perfect lighting.
High Quality Results Take Planning
With planning and preparation, we were able to capture business headshots and profiles for everyone in an efficient manner.
The result is bright professional headshots that show off your professional workplace. It looks effortless, and shows off your business brand.
But it doesn’t have to just be your office, you can set up a background to show off your brand and products too.
Office Background Business Portraits
Don’t stop at corporate headshots. It’s great to also show off the office with business portraits. Unlike headshots where the aim is for everyone to look consistent, here we are trying to show off different personalities.
We use separate areas of the office for each staff member, and the pose is more relaxed and natural. These photographs can be used on individual portrait pages, where you talk a little more about their skills and history.
As your customers browse your website, they see different parts of the office, and they feel like they know you. When they visit the office for the first time in real life, it looks familiar and welcoming. This all adds to the trust of your business.
