Meet Valent
Hi, I’m Valent, branding photographer at Executive Images.
We understand the importance of effective business imagery that helps you win over clients. Our goal is to not just capture photos, but to transform you into your best self. It’s an amazing feeling to see clients who initially thought they weren’t good at photos, end up loving their images and saying “I never thought I could look this good!”
Photography is a powerful tool that can win you business. We’ve all come across websites filled with generic stock photos or “professional” headshots that don’t convey any message. It’s a missed opportunity. That’s why we help you establish a connection with your clients through your photography, building trust and confidence in what you offer.
Investing in professional portraiture is a smart marketing move for any business. Your headshot is the first impression that potential clients have of your brand and your company. It can help you improve your online presence and create a sense of credibility and authority.
And because we take the time to understand your brand and message, our portraits are designed to be an investment in your long-term marketing success.
Our business portrait sessions are a relaxing experience that suits even the most camera shy. Read more about The Experience.
We’ve worked with clients across industries including:
My Story
I hated photos when I was young. Dad at family events was always “line up and say cheese”. We would be holding a smile for like 10 seconds and he still hadn’t taken the photo. It was painful. So painful.
I went to a boarding school. In the library I became lost in images of land and starscapes, nature and animals in magazines such as National Geographic. There was something about photography that was fascinating to me.
Still, it wasn’t until uni that I got my first camera. I was going to Japan, my first ever trip alone. I read all I could about photography and bought a little automatic camera. I visited Japan for 3 weeks and came back with 46 rolls of film. The photo lab in Japan knew me by name.
I loved holding the prints and putting them into albums. My family would say how my shots looked like a postcard. They meant it as a compliment, but it left me feeling something was missing. It was picture perfect, but there was no soul in the shots, nothing that connected. What was missing was the human element, though I wouldn’t understand that for a while to come.
The big cameras
My wife introduced me to the big camera. I fell in love with photography all over again. Like most photographers, initially it was the technical side that grabbed my interest. We spent hours at photographing anything and everything, studied the tiniest details of each bit of equipment. I learned all the settings, how to change night into day and vice versa.
I started shooting freelance for a small magazine, doing fashion shows, interviews, parades, food and products, everything from articles to advertisements. It was great fun.
The revelation
One day I was asked to photograph a friend’s baby. When I showed mum the photographs, tears came into her eyes. “You’ve captured her personality!”
At the time, I thought it was just another photography job, but I quickly realised that it was much more. It wasn’t about capturing what the baby looked like, it was about capturing who she was. That emotional connection between the subject and the viewer is what gives the photograph its value.
As I continued to explore different types of photography, I noticed that many business headshots and commercial portraits were dull and lacked personality.
They didn’t do justice to the businesses they represented.
They actually made you shy away from the business.
But here’s the thing: business owners and their businesses are intertwined. That’s why we take the time to get to know your style and goals. By capturing the essence of what makes your business unique, we can create photographs that truly connect with viewers and attract clients who are the perfect fit.
As a result, Executive Images was born, providing small businesses with authentic and effective photography that helps them stand out in their market. Investing in high-quality photography is a smart marketing strategy, and our focus on corporate headshots means we’re not a jack of all trades. The result is a high-quality product that will attract potential clients who are the right fit for your business.
